Stick To Your Morals
And Listen to The Mountain Goats
I have to say thank you to everyone that reached out to me in response to last week’s newsletter. It was a rough week to see a band I loved, artists I’ve admired really fall from grace in such a fashion but I was relieved to hear that many of you were glad I talked about the AI issue surrounding LS Dunes.
In other news, I’m gearing up for When We Were Young Fest coming up in just under two weeks. Readers - let me know if you’ll be there! Last year I had the greatest time ever and I’m looking forward to another day full of emo nostalgia and moshing.

IT’S NOT A PHASE
Things found on the interwebz this week:
FROM THE PIT
This past week, The Mountain Goats rolled through Downtown LA to play one of my favorite venues, The Belasco. They’re touring in pre-support of their next album, “Jenny From Thebes” that will be out in a few weeks. I love that they’re digging into their own lore to make a lose sequel album to “All Hail West Texas.”
Screaming along to “No Children” and “This Year” in a sold-out room was the pick-me-up I needed after a rough week. In those few minutes, I’m an unstoppable force.
The Mountain Goats
And okay, I know TMG aren’t exactly an emo band or really even emo-adjacent. The dark undertones and subject matter in their lyrics drew me in when I was a teenager and I’ve been a steadfast fan ever since.
For y’all who haven’t dug into The Mountain Goat’s discography before - I recommend the album “Goths” to appeal to emo-adjacent tastes. My personal favorites are “All Hail West Texas,” “Transcendental Youth,” and “The Sunset Tree.”
