And All Your Stitches Are Gone

New poem that's so emo it'll make you black heart cry

Another long week of doing a lot of writing that almost immediately went down the drain. I’m in this weird pattern now of self editing as I go along and I really need to stop doing that because it’s slowing me down. I know I’m better off just spitting out an entire draft first but I can’t help but to just keep tinkering line by line until I’m happy with it.

I need to probably shift gears for a minute. Hmm, we’ll see what I work on next. But I am really starting to think about doing “work me with” type of productivity streams on Twitch so I can stick to this writing schedule a bit more seriously. Maybe I start that up in February?

Anyway, I’m just itching to get to Friday when Green Day’s new album comes out. I haven’t been this excited over a GD album in while, I hope the rest is as good as the singles are! I’ll have a review in next week’s email.

IT’S NOT A PHASE

Things found on the interwebz this week:

  • Paramore released a teaser for their upcoming Talking Heads cover and I absolutely can’t wait. → YouTube

  • Fit For a King’s new single is dope a hell. These guys were a local band to me when I was a teenager and I am LOVING that they’re thriving. → YouTube

  • Mike Shinoda came out to perform “Dance Dance” with Fall Out Boy at the iHeart Alter Ego fest this past week→ NME

NOSTALGIA BLAST

Emo Side Project’s “Stay on Rewind” turns 20 this month! This is one of those recorded in a bedroom, midwest emo style albums that I enjoyed for what it was - just kids in with guitars and some on-the-nose lyrics.

While there’s nothing really groundbreaking about the musicianship or songwriting, there is a little bit of earnestness there that still you can still hear.

DIARY ENTRY

Does this one read like a knock-off verse of a Mountain Goats song, or is it just me?
