Planet of the Emo

This Could Be Anywhere In the World

I’m in the middle of swapping my website over from Squarespace to Wordpress and I want to riiiiiiiiip my hair out. After a solid week of working on this for a few hours each day… I’m still not done. Someone please come over to my apartment and do this for me.

Anyway, now toward the end of January I’ve committed to a new goal this year: writing and posting the equivalent of a poem a week. The quantity isn’t really going for quality - the goal is to build a habit and train that form of writing muscle into getting better over time. While I don’t want to lose sight of finishing my book - I think this is the next thing that I’m really excited to pursue.

I had a meeting this week with my friends in the MCR Archive - we’re in full swing for celebrating the 20th anniversary of the album “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge” and of course, with my newfound Wordpress “skills” - I’ve offered to lead the charge on getting a website up and running for the archive. Wish us/me luck!

IT’S NOT A PHASE

Things found on the interwebz this week:

  • Sum41’s farewell tour is now onsale. I was able to snag a $27 nosebleed to the LA show, with fees it came out to just under $40!! Incredible. I’m feeling bittersweet about this show → Tour Dates

  • Green Day’s new album is out! GD reunited with producer Rob Cavallo - no wonder the general consensus is that it’s their best album since American Idiot. (Rob produced American Idiot)YouTube

  • Avril Lavigne announced a summer tour with Simple Plan and All Time Low! I’m totally gonna have to go to this one. → BrooklynVegan

NOSTALGIA BLAST

The album “Crisis” by Alexisonfire celebrates its 18th anniversary this week. “This Could Be Anywhere In the World” is HANDS DOWN their greatest song. One of the best post-hardcore albums of that era, there’s so many bands in the five years following that def tried to do something similar to what “Crisis” pulls off.
